TheDream.US is now accepting scholarship applications from students with undocumented immigration status who plan to attend college (“DREAMers”) during the 2016-17 academic year.

The scholarship awards up to $25,000 toward a bachelor’s degree and up to $12,500 toward an associate’s degree to students depending on their financial need and cost of attendance at their chosen college.

To be eligible, DREAMer students are required to be eligible for the federal government’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) program and be a first-time college student.  Applicants for the scholarship are also required to attend one of TheDream.US’s partner colleges, which in Florida currently includes Broward College, Florida International University, Miami Dade College, Palm Beach State College, Valencia College and the University of Central Florida.

Known to be the largest scholarship available to DREAMer students nationally, the scholarship can be a gamechanger for students who are not otherwise eligible for state and federal sources of financial aid because of their immigration status.  For DREAMers in search of a higher quality of life for themselves and their families, TheDream.US scholarship fund allows students access to an education that will allow them to be career-ready.

Scholarships are available for first-time in college and transfer students.  To learn more about each program’s eligibility criteria, visit TheDream.US’s scholarship guidelines.

The deadline to submit TheDream.US scholarship application and supporting documents is February 15, 2016, by 11:59 PM Central Standard Time.

TheDream.US application portal can be found here. TheDream.US also has posted guidelines an FAQ for students, families and advisors.

Note (10/19/2015): TheDream.US notified Florida CAN that the following Florida colleges have been added to their list of partner colleges where students can apply: Palm Beach State College, Valencia College and the University of Central Florida.
