Successful community college grads are the cornerstone to increasing degree production in Florida. That is why the Kresge Foundation and Jobs for the Future (JFF) have announced a new funding opportunity to improve community college persistence and completion. Together, the two organizations will begin accepting proposals for creating a Student Success Center.
Described in JFF’s newest publication Joining Forces, Student Success Centers organize a state’s community colleges around common action to accelerate their efforts to improve persistence and completion. The Centers build a cohesive approach to engagement, learning, and policy advocacy across their states’ two-year institutions so that resources are spent efficiently and reforms help the most students possible earn postsecondary credentials.
Student Success Centers are already doing this critical work in five states—Arkansas, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Texas. Joining Forces shows how they are structured, what they’ve accomplished, and provides advice for those seeking to launch a Center in their state.
